After a sleepless night disturbed by wafts of strong cigarette smoke throughout the night we dragged ourselves off onto our bikes, the friendly manager saw us off.

Beautiful ride back next to the Rhine we did pass a glamping set up so we could have stayed there if we had gone on another 6kms! Our first village was Lautenburg where we had planned to stay the night before , stunning setting above the Rhine.We cycled along “undulating”but also some good flat stretches.We started pushing up from the Rhine to the centre of Waldshut town with apparently a historic centre. As I say we started then looked at each other and both said “lets not” and turned around and free wheeled down.

An early lunch at a restaurant at a campsite, we debated using their washing machines but thought better of it. Then headed into Bad Zurzbach a spa town where we had booked ahead seeing as it was a Sunday and hot. The town itself looks quite run down, hope the baths are ok.We’d planned just 35km ride today to recover from yesterday!

After getting changed it was off to try out the Thermal mineral baths, hubby declined.A relaxing 2 hours watching how the rest of the world holidays. Rows of middle aged women eyes shut lying on massage beds in thermal warm water with jets massaging them gently and strongly. Corpulent men in and out of the sauna and then into the cold plunge pools or the hot pools.A few childrens warm pools and quiet mineral pools to do your stretches in.Then rows of recliners for bodies spreadeagled sunning themselves.A few solariums aswell I thouhht theyd been banned througout the world. My favourite had to be the steam room  although a little off putting here with all the smokers coughing away  in the steamy atmosphere. Loved the wristband technology which gave me a change room, locked my locker and recorded how long Id been there to charge me before i left. No I didnt try the naked saunas you had to pay extra is my excuse…
