Staying in the small town of Bad Zurzach made for an easy exit no chance of getting lost. Not a great night as our hotel room seemed to be full of mosquitoes so we were being strafed all night, other hotel windows werent open so I wonder if they had aircon and for some reason we didnt. However bed was comfy so cant complain too much….also they did have a conference on ( wed accidently walked through a meeting room) so it could have been the last room.
So busy following another cyclist that we missed the turn off to a semi interesting historic town, oops.Still you can have too much history…not hubby however…
The big machinery museum hubby wanted to see doesnt open on Mondays..alas.
Easy ride of only 30kms except when we got to eglisau I realised id booked our accommodation on the other side of the Rhine to our route. So we had to decend to the Rhine and climb or push rather, way up the other side of the valley.Dont think there is a taxi for the morning either its going to be a tough start to tomorrow.Very picturesque village, pretty coffee shops so a very chilled sort of day. To get down to the village from here its up and down those 300+steps, everyone around here must be super fit!
The Rhine is flowing much slower now and is at last narrower, progress is being made. The swiss children are all very relaxed walking home at lunchtime by themselves for lunch and even the kindy door wide open and car drivers expect kids to be playing in the street. As it was so hot all the kids were playing in the street fountains and water tubs.
We managed to get into our accommodation a modern apartment overlooking the valley by 12 and have quick siesta. The apartment is more like an air b and b as the owner lives here except he will leave tonight at 6pm and then we have the place to ourselves. Time to give the clothes a treat put them in the washing machine!
We have to put up with a few more” undulations” tomorrow to get to the Rhine Falls the highlight of this section, still in Switzerland. For all those non hill lovers this is not the section for you.
