Day 6 Cycling to Tabor to join Greenway to Prague

A rainy start for our 61km ride to Tabor. Beautiful beech and oak forests I just needed a deer to pop out but none obliged. We followed route 11 fairly well sign posted just as well after a disturbed night. The toilet in our hotel last night was up a large step a real throne, which i half asleep managed to fall down in the middle of the night.!! Lucky i bounce but did wake hubby up.

At 35kms we passed a large group of hunters with dogs and shotguns yes it was duck season. There must have been at least 25 of them and if they all got 3 ducks thats a lot of dead ducks in a couple of hours.

We passed lots of pretty villages but it was as though winter had already arrived with not a soul about.Plenty of hills but managed to get up most of them today.

By 40kms I was wishing id brought a cooker as a cup of tea was in order. We entered the small village of Zelec to be met by a vintage car rally. Hubby was in his element , not only vintage skoda cars but also jawa motorbikes.We stopped to watch and then realised a pub was open.

In we went Restaurant Staric was a star with a fire going and food.

The menu was in czech and their german wasnt fantastic but we got by. I ended up with chicken and mash, best mash ever, andhubby had risotto. It was really busy so we were lucky to have arrived when we did . Amazing value 85kroners a meal, just over 3 euros or 4 aussie dollars.

Fortified we headed off but as we left the village we picked up a dog. Hubby made the mistake of talking to it. So it ran along withus for kms leaping across the road. We would have taken him back to oz, clearly hed been lost for some time his collar was very tatty. We were worried he was going to get run over. He must have had a male owner as he kept going back to hubby. We thought he was going to be with us all the way to Tabor but luckily we passed a soccer match. He was last seen running after the soccer ball, with everyone trying to shoo him off the pitch.

Coming into Tabor wasnot that straight foward as the main street had been totally dug up you couldnt get round.

Tabor great historic town founded by hussites in 13th century. It has never been conquered.

Great pension for the night in the old town.
