We first tried cycle touring in 2009 where we cycled a 1000kms from St Malo along the Loire ending up in Le Chatelier, we loved it so much we vowed wed do it again.
Our next trip was 2011 hard for hubby as he was recovering from a motorbike accident and had his knee immobilised for 3 months in a splint earlier in the year. This trip was from Bilbao in Spain up the Atlantic coast and then across to Dordogne. A memorable journey, the pine forest tracks so magical.
2013 saw us on a short cycling holiday in Jersey and we vowed we needed to do a big trip again.
2015 was to be the year but at the end of 2014 hubby collapsed at home and his heart was found to be for some reason grossly enlarged. We continued our planning but decided hubby would use an electric bike. Hubby deteriorated then lo and behold they found a hole in his heart which could be fixed! Hole fixed ,plans were made but then medical mismanagement meant hubby went into permanent atrial fibrillation for 7 months due to the drugs hed been given. We werent going anywhere. Finally all was well so before anything else happens were off for 3 months …avoiding hills of course and the wind is meant to be on our side aswell!
