A gentle 30km ride today after a day of being a tourist in the old city of Meersburg yesterday. Recommend the old castle there it has all the things a good castle needs: a great dungeon- horrific used to lower people into it and leave them to starve, towers, walls 5 metres thick, kitchens, amazing tiled wood burning stoves and a great weapons selection.It has yet to cool down so we did try and catch the bus back yesterday up the hill in Meersburg and then I reread the timetable the bus had a 2 hour lunch break and this is Germany!

A guy passed us on an incredible german bike an electric CUBE bike, big tyres… bright red. He said it was the easiest bike he’d ever ridden, ideas for anyone needing a new bike.

We arrived in Friedsrichhafen in order  for hubby with me in tow to be able to  visit a couple of boy museums. We booked into a hotel with airconditioning as the weather keeps saying it is going to rain and become cold and its still humid and warm. Hotel Kronen took our luggage off us and so easy cycling off to the Dornier Museum out at the airport about 4kms away. Ignoramauses like me would be totally unaware that Claude Dornier built the first large passenger sea plane, which apparently took off in the 1920s. So I learnt all about the Dornier company and hubby was in his element looking at all these old aeroplanes .

The Dornier museum also is next to where you can do joy flights in a small zeppelin I would love to do it BUT at 440 euros each for half an hour I think there are quite a few other things I could spend 440 euros on!

This hotel has the best bike shed ever, you press a hidden button and this huge steel door slides open…an incredible bike storage place.

The other nice thing about this hotel is it has a pool.I was swimming up and down when a couple got in speaking english. We got chatting and they are also cycling the Rhine and had just started at the source so are a week underway. They are from Picton, New Zealand.Apparently they couldnt walk to the source as the path was still covered in snow should be perfect timing then for us to arrive in about 12 days time.They were impressed that we were reading the guide book back to front , they had difficulties with following his instructions reading it the right way!

Relaxing evening ahead and walk along the harbour front….Zeppelin museum tomorrow before setting off to Lindau.
