1st rest day already over, couldnt count yesterday as a rest day as it still took 30kms to get here mainly because they as usual happened to be digging up a crucial part of the route we’d planned to use to get to our appartment. We would have climbed over as nobody was working on a Saturday but it was seriously dug out, a huge hole impossible with bikes loaded up.

Before we’d left Friedrichshaven we’d visited the Zeppellin museum, fascinating how they kept making them even though there were so many accidents.Friedrichshaven was suprisingly nice for an industrial city, we walked around the bustling harbour at night very scenic, you could easily stay a few nights there.

Lovely appartment here in Lindau the whole upper part of a house in quiet residential area, cheap because we are not on the actual island but its only 1.5kms away. You need to book well in advance to get anything reasonable on the island, and I didnt fancy living in a shoe box for a week. There are another 2 beds but really only suited for children.

Finally woke up this morning to heavy rain after 11 hours asleep I guess that 1350kms had left me a bit tired…Once rain had subsided a bit we headed into Lindau. Interesting island we seem to be still following Martin Luther around , reformist  founder of protestant church. His original bible is here from 1400s . The old town hall has an incredible number of old books as it was the Imperial Reichs mediavel library, an old bible there weighs 12kgs..massive.

Amazing island to wander through and a market even popped up once rain had stopped.Swimming spot was too close to the harbour for my liking but there are other beaches a few kms away which look lovely.Probably too many old buildings here so hubby is going to fill up the camera card.The 12th century church had pew seats over 200 years old imagine how many bottoms they’ve seen.

It is a very German/Swiss holiday spot so no sign of an english newspaper or book for hubby.

Off to a relaxing evening no route to check on…maybe Ill just see what next week has in store perhaps this continual cycling is  addictive..
