Day 34 yesterday we woke to the realisation that the world was very quiet, panic not another Public Holiday…yes it was Whit Monday or Pentecost Monday, ie. The Holy Ghost descends on the disciples for those whose Sunday school years were a long time ago. The fridge was bare 3 mushrooms and 3 tomatoes, 3 apples.Never realised that the Germans had so many Christian Holidays still, and its Corpus Christi day next week.
We cycled off to the start of a walk in Bodolz and discovered the Bodensee is the chief apple and pear producing area of Germany. The smell of apples was everywhere even though they were very tiny on the trees ,must have been all the juice factories. We had to eat our own apples soon into the walk the smell making you apple hungry.Pretty walk through orchards, small forests and tiny chapels dotted around. Then we came across a Farm shop and it was open! No coffee but yes apple juice to drink and we could stock up on veggies and lentils, it would have to be dahl for dinner not a bad choice.
We cycled back to Lindau island to at least get a coffee and a snack for lunch . The rain started to pour down at that point so we
viewed the cathedral but the museums were packed so we retreated to chill in our appartment.
We woke to ongoing rain and we should have then decided to stay in bed. I however made an effort to get to the yoga centre for 9am only to discover they were on holiday so no 9am class in fact no classes at all. Right so next attempt was to get my allergy needles done so peddled in rain over to the Allergogie Drs office, big sign on door “on holidays for 2weeks” . We went and retreated into a coffee shop to dry out a bit. We decided to go into the bank to get some Swiss Francs for next week, however bank does not open on Tuesdays!!
I’d noticed a Drs by the yoga centre so thought Ill give it a go.The practise was empty no one waiting at all.The receptionist was very helpful but the Dr didnt inspire much confidence telling me to relax and did I need to lie down.?He had a text book open on his desk no computer where was all this German technology.?Anyway the good thing is I got my jabs done, my sheet stamped and he didn’t read the paperwork closely so I didnt have to hang around for 20mins.Bonus he only charged me 10 euros. Arms are very itchy thank goodness, the vials of allergens are coping ok with their enforced cycling holiday.
Booked the hairdressers for tomorrow they don’t speak english I wonder if I’ll come out with my hair that pretty red/pink colour all the german ladies have.
Fridge now stocked up so it can rain and thunder all it likes now and we dont have to move.
We did try the town museum today without the crowds not that inspiring apart from a painting of the island from the 1500s, the population was larger than it is now and incredible fortifications all the way around it.
All photos above from day 34 yesterday too wet to even contemplate getting a camera out today.
I hope we dont get too relaxed alps next week….
