After a relaxing and chill day in both senses of the word ,at Villingen a favourite historic town of ours, we set off this morning with a temperature of 1C. Luckily no wind so in the weak sun it didnt feel too cold.
We were suprised that we weren’t cycling along the river but across country. This i decided was a positive as those rolling hills meant we actually got warm. I shed one layer, that still left 3 layers on.My 2 pairs of gloves werent enough initially but the hills intervened before i had to crack open the chemical handwarmers i ‘d packed. Yes i know im a wimp but i don’t like being cold.
It was only 19kms to Donauschingen so we had plenty of time to see the disputed source of the Danube.Apparently the roman emperorer Tiberius called this tne source and you can actually see the spring bubbling up into the pond created there.
A flurry of sleet started as we got near the hotel but didnt quite turn into snow. Disapponting…
Plenty of entertaing Italian cafes in town, i made the mistake of replying Buongiorno and then they were suprised then when i didnt speak Italian.
Maybe time to brave the sauna but it is Germany and no clothes is often the norm..

Map showing all countries Danube/Donau goes through
Yes, we have almost matching raincoats..cute
Owners must have bags!!
Beautiful houses in Donauschingen
Tim crossing the Brigach one of tributaries forming Danube
The pond with the spring bubbling up in the middle.

Me cycling off towards the next hill.
At least dogs are allowed to go to the toilet in Donauschingen but owners are finded 25 euros if they don’t produce a bag and pick up, better than the signs where dogs are not allowed to poop!
Till tomorrow minus 1C with a top of 5C…..
And you thought London was cold! xx
