Day 4-Cycling the Danube, a relaxing ride to Ehing

Well it was a relaxing ride for hubby and myself, Mick had to catch a taxi back to the bike shop who had miraculously completely put a new derailleur on all by 10am and then cycle 60kms.Hubby and I had a leisurely 47km ride a relief after our epic 74kms yesterday.

It certainly was peaceful at the Abbey but those wooden floors and huge doors meant if anyone moved we all knew about it and you had a long walk down the corridor to those 2 toilets! It was a pity we didnt get chance to explore all the grounds and chapels, first built in 1200s.

A beautiful sunny day but still a nip in the air so balaclava remained in place, I hasten to add I am not alone! Fairly easy riding apart from the odd hills chucked in including a 20% hill that cyclists were advised to walk up.

At a pretty town of Rechtenstein hubby was in desperate need of a coffee, so I was instructed to check out a rather deserted looking Gaststatte.Inside a small elderly lady stated they were open for coffee so in we went, not a soul in sight. Very nice tea and coffee and a good chat, she was lovely came out to see us off and told us to take care.

Just as we were negotiating all the diversions in place in Munderkingen the publican of Cafe Milber encouraged us to stop for lunch as everyone was sitting outside enjoying the sunshine. Hubby never needs any encouragement to stop and eat.A great meal of beetroot soup, stuffed capsicum and vegetable patties washed down with local alcohol free beer.

The owner showed us the art works around the bar and an amazing black and white photograph collection many from the 1950s.Some totally unique eg. One signed photo by Audrey Hepburn, a grey day in Times square and the same grey day in Munderkingen on same date.

It was market day as we arrived in Ehing so much to buy such a shame we are on bikes, no shopping for me.

Mick arrived a bit later bike fixed phew , ready to continue onwards.
